Usher at last relaunches his solo career with the release of “Good Kisser”, the first track from his upcoming eighth studio album. After experimenting with bits of electronic and dubstep with Looking 4 Myself, Usher returns to a more straight-forward blend and R&B, soul, and funk. Here, a sensuous, sturdy bassline is layered over salsa drums for a groove that’s a bit retro without sounding like a total throwback. Lyrically, Usher presents a love song that tows the line between ’60s pop innocence and slightly naughtier, early ’90s R&B fare a la Bell Biv DeVoe.
