Elton John rocked night 12 of iTunes Festival 2013, performing hits and new tracks to an electrified audience at London's Roundhouse. Tom Odell opened the night's festivities with stunning tracks from his impressive debut album Long Way Down, including Another Love, Hold Me and Grow Old With Me. He may be the new piano man on the block, but Tom plays with the passion and polish of an old pro, his voice laden with emotion and strength. The display of musical prowess continued as cello-rockers (yes, cellos can rock!) duo 2 Cellos warmed up the crowd for Elton, banging out a roaring instrumental version of Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit. Epic. Elton opened his set with an uproarious rendition of The B**** is Back, while a sexy video loop of Pamela Anderson dancing in pasties and a thong played out on the big screen. The hits continued throughout Elton's lengthy set, including Rocket Man, Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word, and Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me.4music Elton John's 31st studio album, The Diving Board, drops today, and he performed a few solid new tracks, including Oscar Wilde Gets Out, Mexican Vacation and Can't Stay Alone Tonight.
